Our top 2 picks
- 1Wall-mounted room plan
Senville AURA SENA-09HF- 9,000 BTU wall-mounted system
- 208/230V electrical supply
- 16-foot pipe kit and communication wire
- 2Single room, 115V
MRCOOL DIY 12k 5th Gen, 115V system- 12,000 BTU wall-mounted system
- 115V fifth-generation DIY option
- 25-foot precharged Quick Connect piping
Single zone mini split options give one indoor unit its own outdoor partner. This can suit a separate room addition, but one pair does not automatically serve rooms behind closed doors. Compare the room load with the low-output range as well as peak capacity, and record the complete new power and drain scope.
A single-zone arrangement needs an exact indoor/outdoor pair. These wall-system choices have different supply and package routes. Compare them for the same room goal, rather than mixing a system price with a complete installed quote.
One zone is not automatically one physical room. An open area can contain several uses. A closed adjacent room needs a delivery explanation. Use the normal door state and load record to define the zone.
Then retain rated and minimum output for the exact pair, plus heating data at the needed outdoor condition.
Senville AURA SENA-09HF: wall-mounted room plan
Our verdict:
Wall-mounted room plan
Shortlist for a compatible wall-mounted room load and a 208/230V installation plan.
View on Amazon- 9,000 BTU wall-mounted system
- 208/230V electrical supply
- 16-foot pipe kit and communication wire
Keep in mind: Exact delivered unit suffixes and winter output need confirmation; professional installation scope is separate.
Check the exact pair and install scope. Then decide if it fits.
MRCOOL DIY 12k 5th Gen, 115V pair: one room
MRCOOL DIY 12k 5th Gen, 115V system
Our verdict:
Single room, 115V
Compare the listed 115V wall system when its capacity and installation scope suit the room.

- 115V fifth-generation DIY option
- 25-foot precharged Quick Connect piping
Keep in mind: DIY branding does not settle local electrical, permit or refrigerant-work requirements.
Archived Pioneer WYS012 115V: excluded from current choices
The retired WYS012 is not a current one-room purchase candidate. Pioneer says this discontinued system will not be restocked. A new single-zone quote must identify both supplied units. Its paired output and wiring scope need their own records, even if the seller presents the new kit as a successor to WYS012.
Factors to consider for a single zone mini split
Single zone means one indoor delivery point with its matched outdoor system. Begin with the room or open area that delivery point will serve. A single large indoor unit does not become a sourced whole-house plan just because its nominal capacity is high. Keep the normal doors and partitions with the room load.
This page compares the MRCOOL fifth-generation 12k 115V pair and the Senville AURA wall-system route. The old Pioneer WYS012 is discontinued and is shown only as an archive. It is excluded from current buying choices, and its data are not used for a successor.
The MRCOOL candidate has a defined exact pair and package route. Retain DIY-12-HP-C-115D25-O and DIY-12-HP-WMAH-115D25-O together. The Senville candidate has a named 9000 BTU/h wall-system record and a different supply route. Do not choose between these capacity classes from brand or install preference alone.
Define the one zone before the equipment
For an open living room, sketch the planned head and the occupied area. Include doorways and any partition that changes the air path. For an addition, keep the room's actual envelope and season goal. The quote should say what that indoor point is intended to serve.
For a bedroom that normally closes, direct delivery is a separate task from the hall outside it. A single-zone head in the hall is not proved sufficient from its nominal number. If the quote is meant to serve several closed rooms, obtain the actual delivery design rather than assuming air will reach them.
A ducted group can serve a different layout. But it needs designed supply and return paths. That is not the same quote as the wall systems here. Keep the review on one room map so the system label does not hide a change in scope.
Single zone mini split: compare the full output range
The rated capacity is a useful field for an exact pair. It is not all the performance data needed for a room. Keep cooling load, heating load if needed and minimum output in the record. A larger nominal label does not prove better light-load operation.
For primary heating, obtain delivered heat at the home's outdoor design temperature. Keep input power and the matching test conditions with it where published. The lowest allowed outdoor operation temperature is a different fact. It cannot stand in for output at the design point.
The SENA-09HF official table gives 9000 BTU/h rated cooling, 27.4 SEER2 and 208/230V supply for the named wall route. The MRCOOL exact 115V pair record gives 12000 BTU/h rated cooling and 23.5 SEER2. These fields describe different sets. They do not prove which one meets your room's load or will produce the lower household bill.
One outdoor system still needs a site plan
A single-zone quote should name the outdoor location, the pipe route and the condensate destination. Check those locations against the actual instructions. A convenient exterior wall does not automatically approve the power supply, the discharge point or the clearances. Keep each task in the quote.
The chosen package should state supplied pipe length and controls plus mounting parts. An extra concealed run or finish repair may sit outside it. For a replacement, name old-equipment removal and any planned reuse. A single-zone label cannot prove old piping or wiring matching with the new pair.
Compare two one-room offers fairly
Suppose offer A names a complete pair and route plus labor. Offer B names only a family and system amount. The second may eventually be right. But its record is not yet the same.
Resolve the pair and site work before treating the total difference as savings.
Now suppose the two offers use different indoor locations. One is directly in the room and the other is in an adjoining open space. Ask what the load and delivery plan assumes about those spaces. Their task can differ even if both offers say single zone.
Use the install-price guide to separate system from site work. The cost worksheet keeps the national baseline, your quotes and unknown extras distinct. It does not turn a one-zone source range into a price promise for any location.
What this comparison covers
It covers two wall-system options and a discontinued reference. It does not choose a retail size, provide a full load calculation or rank every single-zone system on the market. The limited choice follows the complete pair and the actual room task.
Use the room sizing guide for the load record. No measured room result or assured saving is claimed.

Frequently asked questions about single zone mini split
Is this a hands-on test?
No. The review uses published product records and stated fit conditions. It has no measured result in your home.
Does a family name prove the exact system rating?
No. Use the full indoor and outdoor codes, or approved combination, with the matching official rating and date.
Does a nominal capacity choose the room size?
No. Check the load and air-delivery plan first. Then select an exact system. Accessory choices follow that system’s instructions.
Can an equipment amount stand in for an installed quote?
No. Keep site work and inclusions clear. List missing amounts apart. Compare the same scope.
